I wanted to test the trial version, but can't upload photo although doing what your guide mentioned. Is it a bug or this is something which can not be done in the trial version?

Yes, the Upload feature is disabled in the trial version of the software. I've downloaded the package and installed it. I've also created an image and then tried to upload it to a supported service (eg. Facebook), and a dialog window appeared saying that Uploading is disabled in trial version.
Note: The Picasa feature won't be available at all since the service has been discontinued, therefore I recommend contacting the developers to report this issue before buying the software.
